The Test Manager plays a crucial role in overseeing software testing, requiring strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills. Their responsibilities include setting clear goals, conveying these to the team, and monitoring progress to achieve desired outcomes. They manage the planning, design, execution, and reporting of tests to ensure software meets quality standards and is free of defects. Collaboration with stakeholders—such as developers, project managers, and business analysts—is essential to align testing efforts with project objectives.
What You Will Be Doing
- Lead and manage a team of testers (manual testers and test automation resources)
- Provide guidance, coaching & mentoring
- Forecasting staffing needs based on business goals and trends
- Identifying capacity and skill gaps
- Manage and allocate resources effectively to meet testing requirements and deadlines.
- Lead and develop the project test plan and strategy.
- Coordinate testing activities across different teams and projects to ensure that the business goals are met and that testing standards are consistent across all projects.
- Ensure that all products meet the required quality standards before release to production.
- Identify potential risks in the testing process and develop mitigation strategies
- Implement best practices and continuous improvement processes to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of testing activities
